BERRICK SALOME QUARRY CHARITY
Berrick Salome Quarry Charity was established on Ist August 1990 in order to administer income from land rental on the village border. Prior to the setting up of the Charity, the land was administered by South Oxfordshire District Council, and the income was used to reduce the rates payable by local inhabitants. The introduction of Council Tax altered these arrangements.
The Charity is administered on behalf of the parishioners by five Managing Trustees, appointed by the community at the Annual General Meeting of the Parish Council, and the funds may be applied for to benefit a variety of local organisations. St. Helen's Church, The Berrick & Roke Village Hall and the Roke and Benson Band have been regular beneficiaries. It also supports village activities such as the annual cricket match through the provision of equipment, and this book is also partially funded through the Charity.
